“Denial, the only thing that keeps most of us from losing our sanity.”

Disclaimer: I received an ARC copy of this book from the author, Heena Rathore P. & Citrus Publishers in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion in any way.

Deceived is a psychological thriller book that you would not want to put down.  For a debut novel, it is truly brilliant and exciting to read. From the start up to the last word, this book will keep you wanting for more.

It kick starts with the difference about sociopaths and psyhcopaths and a newspaper article about a thirteen year old girl who murdered her parents. Who wouldn’t be curious by that? It was definitely a great start that makes readers like me want to read and know more.

The book was divided into four different POVs. First, a girl coping up with her mother and brother’s murder. Second, a journalist who wants to know more about the murders in the area. Third, a girl who murdered her parents almost 30 years ago and lastly, a mysterious psychopath’s journal entries. This adds up to how puzzling and thrilling the book was because you will surely ask yourself, “Why? What do they have in common? What are their connections with each other?”

Honestly saying, it has some cliche moments but it still has its own surprise element. Some moments are predictable some are not. I think it is because of the multi POVs because you would expect things to happen after reading one character’s point of view. But it is still a fun and exciting book to read.

There was also character development for each and every character but still, some of the character’s actions where questionable and cringe worthy. Actually, I want a certain character to die because she was kind of annoying for me but I still like how she loved her dog and how she loves books like I do. The other characters was superb and you can see how different and unique each characters are. I also like how it has a hint of romance in there and how it focused on the need to know the real identity of the people around you before trusting them.

All in all, it was a fun, mysterious and an exciting read for me. It even gave me goosebumps on some of the scenes.

Please do check this book out if you want a fast paced psychological thriller book. I highly recommend it.
